Monk: How did you do it?
Monk's mother-in-law: I woke up one morning saw flowers were blossoming in the garden, kids were playing next door and I decided to give this world a second chance.
I know I would have to give this world a third, a forth, a fifth, or probably more chances.
Had a pretty wonderful birthday dinner, thanks for the courtesy of my lovely friends. Oysters from Jimmy's kitchen are the best I have ever had and I would very probably be going back just for his tasty oysters. Got more presents than I had expected since I have stopped accepting presents several years ago but it's fun that all colleagues gathered around and sent each other presents. I got Rosehip tea from Martha. Oh yes, a "Q" necklace from Ah-Kar and everyone went over-emphasizing my name, well, it is me who wear my name on myself anyways.
Yesterday JL finally came to office. "I haven't seen you for two weeks!" I exclaimed. Then we came to each other, holding each others' elbows and asked: "How are you?" "I am good." I replied. She looked into my eyes for seconds as if questioning them, everyone knows how good JL and Martha are in reading others' eyes. Once, JL said Mr. Tsui read from my eyes that I am really smart, and that was the first moment JL went scanning my eyes for her answers. She never stops since. You just don't have to say much in front of them, they simply know.
I am finding a good way to thank them.
A close shave.
A slight ache.
I wrote a poem in my mind, sound a complete shadow of Wislawa's "It could happen."
Same tempo.
A close shave.
A slight ache.
Never more.
